"Hemp Ban" Headlines: What It Really Means for The Healing Rose
The key point for right now is simple: nothing changes. It's business as usual until December 11, 2026. After that, very little changes for us.
You may have seen the headlines about a "hemp ban" tucked into the recent federal spending bill. Here's what it actually means for us, and for you.
Where we stand
At The Healing Rose, we operate under the Massachusetts Hemp Program as an MDAR-licensed manufacturer. Massachusetts already has one of the stricter hemp programs in the country, and from day one, we've chosen to:
- Follow the letter and spirit of the law
- Avoid loopholes
- Put safety, testing, and transparency first
Because of this, 95% of our products are not affected by the language in this bill. Our products remain compliant, safe, and legal to sell in Massachusetts.
Being honest about the rest
There may still be some collateral impact if this wording isn't improved before it takes effect:
A proposed cap of 0.4 mg total THC per package, which could remove full spectrum CBD extracts from consumers who like to make their own products.
Potential disruption to the supply chain for sourcing minor cannabinoids like CBC, CBN, and THCV, leaving only CBD and CBG as hemp-derived options affordable in bulk.
Staying hopeful
I'm choosing to stay hopeful. This situation has already sparked serious conversations about more sensible, nationwide hemp regulations. My hope is that hemp farmers, small businesses, and retailers who focus on safe, effective, non-intoxicating wellness products will be protected as the final rules are written.
There's a reasonable middle ground where public safety is protected and compliant hemp businesses can continue to serve their communities. The Healing Rose will keep doing what we've always done: operate within the rules, put consumer safety first, and advocate for fair, practical hemp regulations.
